| My favorite time of day is those last few moments of dawn, when the night struggles to keep its hold over the earth while the sun fights its way over the horizon. The air buzzes with life, smells pure, and feels light. My favorite feeling in the world is less tangible than dawn, but probably much less whimsical. The feeling you are left with after you listen your whole way through an entire CD. Not just any CD, but the "epic" ones that drag your emotions up and down, just to pummel them. The first few seconds after the last track, when you feel helplessly melancholic and devastatingly heavy, are perhaps the most rewarding masterpieces that any artist can claim. This feeling can be horribly affecting, or it can be a delightful weight that keeps you grounded in a world that pushes and pulls in every direction. |
